I reached high
and pulled down a star as well as my expectations for you.
You turned to me, pelvis first, eyes slowly sliding forward under honey kissed lids.
Your shoulders raised and fell away, while
our star burnt out in my hands.
As my foundation crumbled, cracked, splintered and began to sink,
my feet went asunder.
I shot my hand in the air, attempting to protect our smoldering star, while
murky waters of the past rose to my hips.
My eyes stretched wide,
I searched for you.
You are gone.
